The register lists 37 operator registrations: 36 private operators plus Play Alberta, AGLC’s provincial platform. Registration covers operators serving Alberta players; Play Alberta remains the province’s own regulated offering.

What AGLC regulation means for Alberta players

The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) regulates the content of gambling advertising and marketing for Alberta’s registered iGaming operators. The published advertising rules require three things from registered operators: the Alberta iGaming Corporation logo is clearly identifiable on advertising material; responsible gambling messaging is a required component, including the 211 Alberta reference line; and operators are not permitted to use athletes or persons who appeal to minors to endorse their product, unless the promotion is for the platform’s responsible gambling features.

AGLC does not control how often gambling ads appear. Concerns about advertising frequency or placement are handled by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), which oversees broadcasting matters. Concerns about the content of a specific gambling ad can be submitted to AGLC for review.

How to verify an AGLC registration

Open the AGLC iGaming Operator Register at aglc.ca/gaming-registrants and search the brand name. The register lists registered entities, so match the legal entity in the operator footer to the register entry. A brand that does not appear on the register is not an AGLC-regulated Alberta operator.

Responsible gambling in Alberta

Alberta’s legal gambling age is 18. AGLC’s GameSense programme provides responsible gambling resources for players, and the GameSense Info Line is available on 1-833-447-7523. The GameSense website is gamesenseab.ca. 211 Alberta is the community services reference line that AGLC requires operators to include in advertising.

Every AGLC-registered operator is required to offer responsible gambling controls. Specific controls, including deposit limits, time limits, and self-exclusion, are set out by each operator within AGLC requirements. AGLC’s provincial self-exclusion programme covers registered operators.
